“This part of my life… this part right here, this is called “happiness“
This quote displayed across Brittany Garner’s graduation cap. Words that hold such heavy weight in her life and the telling of her story. Hillsboro native, Brittany reached out to me to commemorate her graduation from McLennan Community College here in Waco, Texas with a graduation session. She had never had professional photos taken with me and wanted to invest in herself.
A Story of Perseverance
For starters, I always ask clients about their vision for their session. As a result, Brittany told me that it was important to incorporate her son, Noah, the most important person in her life. As a single-mother, obtaining her degree in Paralegal studies was no small feat. Consequently, that is something I relate to strongly, as a single mother myself once upon a time.
Additionally, Brittany told me how she has persevered to get to this point and accomplish this for herself and her son. She also noted how she could not have done it without the help of her “village” and, most importantly, her faith in God. Immediately, I knew how special this session was for Brittany and Noah my excitement grew as the day of the shoot approached.

The Perfect Graduation Session
We began the session at my favorite time of day. Although the week prior had been cold, the weather ended up being perfect, nonetheless. Subsequently, we walked around the beautiful campus of MCC and found some lovely spots. The campus was radiating with color and warmth, despite winter approaching. It was as if it were expecting us. At one point, I noticed the sun peaking out perfectly from behind the trees and knew this would make a magical shot. Did I mention that Brittany is absolutely stunning and the perfect model?!

You can clearly see this mother’s love for her son radiating in these images. It’s evident that obtaining her degree is only one small gift that she will give him in his lifetime. I adore working with children like Noah, who reminds me of my own son. He was hesitant at first, but quickly warmed up, eventually offering me tons of smiles. This was such a fun shoot and I’m happy to have been a part in cementing this moment in time. Congratulations, Brittany!
